Regarding moving the lower shock mount I would be inclined to leave the mounts alone and concentrate on getting a proper pair of shocks with the correct spring rate and dampning qualities. Most of the twin shock classes I have seen have put an emphasis on basic trials skill's anyway's and not suspension travel. You will never be able to get a twin shock setup to even come close to a monoshock's rebound and compression qualities no matter how far you move the shocks up! Stick with what you got and refine it for your bike's intended purpose. The 83' is one of the best twin shocks you can get so it's an excellent starting point. Is there a trick to this?
I have a few other bikes and hope to be of help to someone in the future.
Thanks
Ed
,Ed Wrzosek,ed.wrzosek@agra.com Re: Great Web Site,Tuesday 14-Dec-1999 20:45:19,208.203.102.62 writes,Ed
Sometimes the swingarm bolt can be very stubborn to remove. If you can't smack it thru with a dead blow hammer or block of wood (you don't want to mess up the threads!) you might have to heat the area up with a propane torch and try to smack it thru. You also might be able to squirt some penatrating oil into the bushings to loosen them up. There is a bronze sleeve and a steel insert in the swingarm of the 348-49 Cota's that usually does not cause this kind of trouble unlike the 247's which use a rubber bushing which can be a real nightmare to remove the swingarm bolt.,Jared,vr250@swlink.net Re: Great Web Site,Wednesday 15-Dec-1999 09:11:32,192.102.13.6 writes,Thanks for your reply. Actually i did get the pivot bolt out and it was ok no rust etc. However the swing arm will not come out.
